The Juke was one of the first supermini crossover vehicles on the road in 2010, with Nissan hoping to achieve as much success as it did with the larger Qashqai. It didn't take long for the Juke to become popular on the used car market, which led to other manufacturers designing rival models. In 2020, Nissan released a new generation with a new design, plus modern and innovative tech features.

Nissan Juke generations
Second Generation (2019 to Present)
Nissan didn't need to make a lot of updates to the Juke because of the popularity of the first generation, yet the company spent time improving the ride quality, increasing the cabin space and adding a new engine. From a visual standpoint, the basic shape and size of the Juke was retained, but the design was heavily modernised, giving the nameplate a new lease of life.
The new Juke was roomier and larger than the first model but weighed 23kg less. This was mainly due to Nissan using high-strength steel in select places. This weight reduction aided in better handling, improved performance and enhanced fuel efficiency.

First Generation (2010 to 2020)
The Nissan Juke arrived with a bold, new style, which created significant demand for the crossover. Using the same platform as the Renault Captur, Nissan fitted turn signal lamps above the grille that made it look sportier. Inside the cabin, the unique centre console design reflected the shape of a motorcycle tank and saddle.
A 2014 facelift added more engine options and improved the build. Nissan also increased the boot space, making the model more practical for families. The release of the Nismo RS variant provided a performance option in the range.

The 1.6-litre petrol engines have been far more popular than the diesel. It's possible that the hybrid configuration will overtake the petrol motors in a few years as more hit the used market, due to their improved fuel efficiency.
What are the most popular trim levels?
Newer Juke models come in several trim levels: Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna, Tekna + and N-Sport. Among used models, the N-Connecta with a leather steering wheel, improved NissanConnect satnav and automatic climate control has been the most popular among Juke owners.
What optional extras should I look out for?
We recommend keeping an eye out for models featuring the Advanced Safety Shield Pack, which is fitted with a 360-degree camera, along with rear cross-traffic alert and an intelligent driver alertness system. It is also possible to find models with a premium Bose stereo system, heated front seats and two-tone metallic paint colours, so look out for those, too.
Is the Nissan Juke a good family car?
Yes, this small crossover would be ideal for a family with smaller children. The rear seats are accommodating and have ISOFIX points for child seats. There's also a decent size boot for carrying luggage and shopping.
Is there a hybrid version of the Nissan Juke?
Yes, there is a self-charging hybrid version of the Nissan Juke, which outputs 140bhp. The biggest selling feature of the hybrid is its efficiency, being capable of up to 58mpg on average.
Is the Nissan Juke available as an automatic?
Nissan has offered the Juke with both a manual and an automatic gearbox. While the manual is much more popular on the used market, you should have no trouble finding a used Juke with an automatic transmission if that's what you prefer.
Is there a four-wheel drive version available?
Most Nissan Juke models were made with front-wheel drive. There are some used Jukes with four-wheel drive, but they are more difficult to find as used cars.
